New York-based fashion brand IO STUDIO has unveiled Collection «0022». Inspired by the artistry of modern dancers, this collection seamlessly combines minimalist style with the movement of the body.

The collection uses silk as the main fabric to reflect the sense of comfort and the essence of «not wearing» experienced by contemporary dancers during practice, or garments that flow with the body to be emphasized.
Founder and designer Yinglun Zhang shares her insights on fabric, saying, «Washed silk charmeuse was chosen as the main solid colored fabric as it reflects the daily practice of contemporary dancers. They typically wear multiple layers during warm-up and sweat a lot. The acid in sweat removes or fades the color, especially with repeated washing».

With the aesthetics of minimalism, the collection features three main connected color palettes representing the three main chapters: «glaciers, sand, and waves». The color transitions from lighter to warmer to darker. Contrast is a significant motif in this collection, encompassing light and dark, stiff and soft, stillness and movement, and more. Not only do the colors and fabrics contrast, but also the garments and bags. Yinglun envisions the garments as water and waves, while the bags are stones, one in motion and the other still. Collaborating with accessory designer Andree Kong, Yinglun created stone bags and pot bags. The leather is wet draped over the shape, and when it dries, it retains a faded texture, maintaining its structure and representing stiffness like a rock.
